懇友週 - 記錄…

要進步, 我們要避免車輪再發明(reinvent the wheel)的情況, 所以我把懇友週的一些東西記下來….

  • Program length is appropriate, we stuck with the agenda +/- 5 min.
  • A sense of connection was created with new comers because we created a caring and friendly environment.
  • Appropriate ice-breaker, good praises, well-prepared testimony, quality video…program did not appear to be too pushy or “hard sell”.
  • Good dinner and decoration.

Deltas:

  • Child care could have been better planned to help engage all participants (2 parents were sitting outside with their children).
  • Conduct a dry run of electronic equipment before the program to avoid preventable glitches.
  • A bit too many photographers, slightly intimidating to the new comers.

Other comments:

  • Contact new comers within this week, suggest mailing a thank you card signed by core group with upcoming events.
  • We need to make a commitment to keep our time limits for all future meetings.
  • People are generally drawn to special interests, such as tax, real estate, job market, family issues, etc. Bible study is good too. Focus on the need of the unchurched. Consider an evangelical series, or Bible Studies linked to current events. To attract the unchurched, we need to be in touch with our times and integrate faith with our daily lives.

讀初中的兒子參加夏令營不在家,學校有老師打電話來,告知兒子的英文老師在接受一個小手術後,因併發症不治去世!聞此噩耗,我放下電話,哭了一場。因為常聽兒子提起這位老師,不單在課堂上帶給學生諸多啟發,下課後還常抽時間跟兒子聊天,暢談天南地北。我常為兒子有這麼一位良師益友而感恩。想起她曾寫過一張卡給兒子,句句都是鼓勵的話,還說幾年後要來參加兒子的中學畢業典禮;可惜她不能來了。
生命實在無常而短暫,這位老師也許沒有想過一個小手術竟會奪去她的性命。事實上,我們哪一個人不是這樣:晚上躺下,也不知道明早能否起來?因此 聖經說,我們「右手有行善的力量,就不要推辭」,當勉力而行。當趁今天,善用上帝所給我們的機會,為生命結出美好的果子。
這位老師對學生的愛、祝福和肯定,會長留在學生心中。生命中有許多祝福別人、能存留永恆價值,積蓄財寶在天上的機會 —就在今天!

煩惱,是一種浪費

如果您嘗試去回憶、自省自己過去和現下的生命歷程,可能您也會和我有同樣一個領悟—-「煩惱,是一種浪費」。
曾經有個莞爾的故事,描述到古時候有一位尚未出嫁的小姐,她的父親為了方便,便在院子裡鑿了口井。她看著那口新鑿好的井,想著:「我是個女的,將來一定會嫁人,嫁了人以後一定會生孩子,生了孩子之後一定會帶回娘家看看,帶回娘家後小孩子一定愛往院子裡跑,到了院子裡我又不一定能時時看著他,當時候他可能會掉進井裡淹死。」
她每天看著井,想著她未來那「即將被淹死的孩子」,越想越煩惱,開始茶不思飯不想,日子就這麼一天天地過去,她的健康狀況也因而慢慢地走下坡,最後就這麼過世了。
也曾經有一個上班族,為了隔天的會議報告,煩惱、焦躁得整天晚上睡不著,原本可以用來準備隔天報告的時間、精力,也在坐立難安的情景中給蹉跎掉了。最後,他隔天的會議報告根本無法獲得充分準備,表現得差強人意。
種種類似的情景,可能都常不知不覺地發生在您我的生活中,所以我說:「煩惱,是一種浪費!」 過度的煩惱、焦躁不但徒勞無功,且往往會額外浪費我們的時間,浪費我們的精力,浪費我們的健康。
「聖經」上說:「你們哪一個能用思慮使壽數多加一刻呢?」又說:「應當一無掛慮,只要凡事藉著禱告、祈求,和感謝,將你們所要的告訴神。」可不是嗎?煩惱,是一種浪費!它會浪費我們生命中許多寶貴的資源,但卻於事無補。下次當您面臨挑戰、難關時,與其徒然煩惱、焦躁,還不如嘗試著把一切交托給上帝,相信會有意想不到的平安與收穫。
